-
Select Tools -> Color Analyzer from the main menu to open the Color Analyzer Dialog. Click Add button to create a new color palette. Enter the name "Tutorial" so that we can recall this set of colors later.
-
At the "Colors From Image" tab at the lower half of the dialog. Select the image Red_Maple_Leaf.jpg.

We use them as examples for this tutorial only. You can select another colors or add new colors directly by entering their hex values.

. They will be used for headings and buttons. Click this button

to create a new color in Color Palette. The default color is black. We use this button

to pick up the color #FB9A05 or you can enter the hex value directly. Double click this newly created color to open the System Color Dialog. Change the Lum from 120 to 160 and then click OK.
Repeat this again and this time change the Lum to 200. After this we will have a total of 5 colors.
-
Repeat the above step to create two more colors from #D9C239

. Set the Lum of the first one to 70 and the second one to 235. After this, we will have the following.
-
Repeat the above step again but this time we are going to create one more color from #AF1402

. Set the Lum of the new color to 45. We now have these colors.
-
Copy these colors to the System Color Dialog so that we can access them easily. Click the "Copy to Color Dialog" button.
-
Click OK to save the color palette.
-
The colors which are copied to the custom colors of the System Color Dialog will not retain after this program exit. You need to open the Color Analyzer to copy them to the Color Dialog again. If you want to retain them there, select Tools -> Preferences -> Color Analyzer from the main menu. Check the option "Remember custom colors of Color Dialog between runs".
