Step 3: Prepare the dark wood texture for the background

The following will be used as the background of the page. You can refer to this topic to see how this image can be made from wood texture image. We crop the image to 350x350 for this website.
 
Follow the steps below to add drop shadow to the image:
  1. Double click this image to load it into the Image Editor.
  2. Add a 50 pixels border at the bottom of the image. Click this button then select Add Border. Uncheck "Same for all". Set Bottom to 50. Click OK to add the border to the current image. The dialog should look like below after the values are set.
  3. Create a new blank layer and move it to the bottom of the layers. Click this button then select New Layer -> Blank. A new layer will be created. Drag this layer to the bottom or click the Layers button again and select Move Down. After these, the layers will look like this.
  4. Fill the newly created blank layer with color #141414. When the new created layer (Layer 1) still selected, click this button to open the Fill Color Dialog. Set the color value to #141414. Click OK to apply this color to the selected Layer.
       
  5. Select the dark wood layer. Click on "Layer 0" to select it.
  6. Apply the drop shadow filter by selecting Filters -> Effects -> Drop Shadow. Uncheck "Add transparent borders". Set angle to 270. Set distance to 8. Set softness to 20. Click OK to apply the drop shadow to Layer 0.
     
         
     
  7. Press the "Insert to Page" button to open the Insert Image Dialog. When asked whether to save the current image to an external file, press the "No" button.
     
     
  8. Enter the name "wood.gif". Select GIF. Click OK to create this image. It will be placed in the default import folder.
